Severe latency bottleneck detected on ISL Ports - 8Gbps - DCX

On one of our fabrics, we have 3 DCX Switches, and they are with 8 gig ISL .... after working for nearly 6 months, now the error is coming as "Severe latency bottleneck detected"

We use Multimode fibre cables for ISLs as they are in the same rack.  Any suggestion why this error would come.

Hi,

can you please post the entire Error messge from the errdump?

Server latency bottleneck is usually an error message that the server is currently overload and can't response as quick as the switch gets new data in from the target.

Sometime it is caused by heavy CPU or memory load on the server.

Other reasons are also possible.

I hope this helps,

Andreas

Anotherway is that you adjust or disable the bottleneck monitor of the affected switches if the server and the application as well the rest of the fabric have no porblem with this "slow" server.

If you have discards anywhere in the SAN or on ISL you should investigate and check your SAN more closely.
