Setting up e-mail alerts

Hi,

I am currently running FOS 7.0a and I am setting up the fabric switch to send e-mail, I have done a few test and have come to the conclusion that the from address (root@swd77.xxxx.com) is been blocked via incomming e-mail server.

Reason for the above been blocked is swdd77.xxxx.com is not a valid domain.

Is there any way to change the from domain address to just xxxx.com

Regards

Craig

Re: Setting up e-mail alerts

Did you ever get this resolved?  I am doing the same thing I currently use FOS 6.4.1b on HP branded brocade switches.  When I try to set up email alerting using Fabric Watch these newer 8 gig switches do sent out an email, however they all come from the same system name.  SWD77.  If i remember correctly this is the brocade default switch name.  Of course we change our switch names to something more meaningful.  Anybody know how to resolve this?

Thanks.

Re: Setting up e-mail alerts

Hi cmdt2,

what kind of hardware is this ? standalone or chassis ?

Could you provide ipaddrshow, chassisname, switchname and hostname output (logged in as root for the last one)

Kind regards,

Re: Setting up e-mail alerts

Sure this is a standalone switch.  It is an HP StorageWorks 8/40 SAN Switch.  We have quite a few of them and they all do the same thing.

SWITCH
Ethernet IP Address: 10.2.X.X
Ethernet Subnetmask: 255.255.254.0
Gateway IP Address: 10.2.X.X
DHCP: Off
hep8gbroc1:FID128:admin> chassisname
Brocade5100
hep8gbroc1:FID128:admin> switchname
hep8gbroc1

hep8gbroc1:FID128:root> hostname
hep8gbroc1
hep8gbroc1:FID128:root>

What is interesting some of my older switches with Fabric Watch licensed work fine when sending the email message out.  Here is an example of one it's running FOS 6.2.0g.

Fabric OS (swd77)
Fabos Version 6.2.0g

swd77 login: admin
Password:

EVA1BROC3:admin> ipaddrshow

SWITCH
Ethernet IP Address: 10.X.X.X
