SNMP question, strangeness?

I'm trying to query a Silkworm 12K (v4.0.0b) via SNMP so I can get bytes transferred/recieved per port so this can be graphed via RRDTOOL. I can walk the tree and get the following information:

Re: SNMP question, strangeness?

You should get exactly what you got in the first attempt plus what ever traffic has passed through between queries. I did notice that the first attempt uses snmpwalk and the second uses snmpget. Perhaps snmpget has malfunctioned. If you specify the leaf OID with snmpwalk what do you get?

I get the same thing using snmpwalk. I'd love to get this working so I can generate some killer RRDTOOL graphs.. <GRIN>

This IS odd, especially since I'm doing this no problem with cricket (which uses RRDtool as a backend, see my other thread in this forum.)Good luck.

Make sure that you are not collecting an Octet Sting and trying to convert it to a counter. This would most likely result in zero values.

Hi, I found useful MRTG with RRDtool and this is the example of a configuration file that works.-

### Global Defaults
RunAsDaemon: Yes

LogFormat: rrdtool
PathAdd: /usr/local/rrdtool/bin/
LibAdd: /usr/local/rrdtool/lib/perl/

Interval: 5
# to get bits instead of bytes and graphs growing to the right
# Options: growright, bits

WorkDir: /usr/local/rrdtool/data/bytes
Options: growright
Factor: 4
kilo: 1024
MaxBytes: 100000000
YLegend: Bytes per Second
YTicsFactor: 4.0
ShortLegend: B/s
Legend1: Bytes Transmitted per Second.
Legend2: Bytes Received per Second.
LegendI: TX:
LegendO: RX:

TargetSAF1E10_1: 1.3.6.1.4.1.1588.2.1.1.1.6.2.1.11.1&1.3.6.1.4.1.1588.2.1.1.1.6.2.1.12.1<!graemlin:Smiley Tongue-->ublic@saf1e10:...
