Renaming Switches In Production Fabric

Hello,

I have a dual-fabric SAN with approx a dozen switches in each. Switches range from 3850's running firmware 5.3.2a  and 4100, 5000, & 5100 running 6.2.0g.  Can I rename the switches with little or no risk?  Basically, I would like to rename them to something that makes more sense.

Thanks,

Pete

Yes. Live and in production. Current naming scheme is obscure and non-descriptive. Renaming would be of great benefit.

Thanks!

Peter,

Changing the switch name causes a domain address format RSCN to be issued and may be

disruptive to the fabric.
