Problem with enabling ISL Trunk

Just added an BROCADE switch to IBM Bladecenter.

I need to set up an ISL trunk between bladecenter SAN switch (8Gb) and external BROCADE SAN16B Switch (4Gb).

Error message is "Speed mismatch / Incompatible Vendor" when port is enabled.

SFP is 4gb i both ends and port speed is set to 4gb, still no go.

Bladechassis SAN Switch is OS=v 6.3.1b and External SAN16B is v6.1.0c.

Does different Fabric OS have any impact on ISL Trunk?

Port is enabled and licensed.

Re: Problem with enabling ISL Trunk

Hi

did you try with auto-negociated speed on both side ?

Please provide which ports are in use and portcfgshow on both side

Are you using Access gateway mode on bladecenter switch ?

Kind regards,

Re: Problem with enabling ISL Trunk

I don't see anything wrong here ... Is this a shortwave link ? How much distance between switchs ?

Could you provide sfpshow on ports ?

Or attach supportshows to have all information.

Kind regards,

Re: Problem with enabling ISL Trunk

Try to use Brocade branded SFP on 8G embedded switch. Since 8G hardware, sfp matrix has been dramatically reduced and I'm not sure avago 4G SFP is supported on 8G Brocade switches.

Hope this helps

Kind regards,
