DETAILED DESCRIPTION 

This is a perl script that does the following:

  • Makes sure switch host name is pingable
  • Telnets to switch
  • Return information about a given port:

- Port status
- Port WWN

It is intended to be a quick way to see if a fiber connection has been made, and to get the WWN quickly without having to manually login to the switch. Usage information can be found by running the script with no options.

 

REQUIREMENTS

Operating System Should work with any OS that can run Perl. Tested on HP-UX and Linux.
Required Net::Telnet perl module.

Interface CLUI

Fabric Operating System 2.x, 3.x, 4.x

Other Test with Perl version 5.8.

 

NOTES (INCLUDING LIMITATIONS)

This is the first version, plans for future version to enhance the error checking.
