New Switch added to fabric

Hello All,

I have two seperate fabrics each having a single DCX Backbone switch.
We 're now going to add a brand new switch to each of the fabrics. I am pretty new in setting this Up and no prior experiance .  can some one help me what all steps i need to check and configure on the new switch before running the cables to the free port.
Like setting the domain ID and other things.

Appreciate if some one can help me understand this setup.

This will be the configuration

Slot   Blade Type     ID    Status
-----------------------------------
  1     SW BLADE     51     ENABLED
  2     SW BLADE     51     ENABLED
  3     SW BLADE     51     ENABLED
  4     UNKNOWN             VACANT
  5     CORE BLADE   52     ENABLED
  6     CP BLADE     50     ENABLED
  7     CP BLADE     50     ENABLED
  8     CORE BLADE   52     ENABLED
  9     UNKNOWN             VACANT
10     UNKNOWN             VACANT
11     SW BLADE     51     ENABLED
12     SW BLADE     51     ENABLED

Thanks all!!

Re: New Switch added to fabric

Hi deepak,

First of you have a DCX  or an 48K. There is no such thing as a "DCX Backbone ( 48K) switch" .

Secondly, the domain ID's in a fabric need to be different or else the fabric wil segment.

Thirdly, other fabric.ops like E_D_TOV or R_A_TOV need to be identical or else the fabric wil segment.

Lastly, the config off your new switch needs to be the same or it needs to be cleared.

Re: New Switch added to fabric

Thanks for the response . Sorry i had mentioned it wrong. I Have corrected this in the main question.

so once i follow all the  3 steps i need to use ISL and trunking as well , is there any specification in picking the ISL and trunking . Pointers will be helpful . I will search for the documents to understand in details ..

Thanks again for your time !

Re: New Switch added to fabric

--->>> First of you have a DCX  or an 48K.

The "slotshow" , show

//.....

5     CORE BLADE   52     ENABLED
//.....

8     CORE BLADE   52     ENABLED

//.....

Core Blade are ONLY present in DCX Class Plattforms and not in other Class Brocade Director's 12K, 24K 48K

--->>> Lastly, the config off your new switch...

... "needs to be the same"

it is most simple to avoid Fabric Conflict since your want to add this NEW Switch in the >same Fabric<, to Merge the Fabric

from DCX Backbone trough ISL.
