Licenses: Fabric VS Extended fabric

We have some IBM 24E (Brocade 300) switches with Extended fabric and trunking licenses. There is no (full) fabric licenses in licenseshow output. Do we need to buy fabric licenses to perform an ISL connection between switches? As for now status of E-ports is "(incompatible)(No fabric license)".

Re: Licenses: Fabric VS Extended fabric

Fabric License is requiered for ISL.

Extended License is intended to Connect TWO Switches over Long Distance, eg. between TWO Datacenter.

Re: Licenses: Fabric VS Extended fabric

Does it mean that we need both Fabric License and Extended Fabric License to connect our switches? We have three datacenters and want to combine it in one SAN-fabric. SFP for ISL is LW 10km.

Re: Licenses: Fabric VS Extended fabric

Is correct.

Fabric License is "Generally" required to ISL between TWO or more switch.

Re: Licenses: Fabric VS Extended fabric

Thank you very match! Please answer one more question to avoid future confusions. If we buy Fabric License, we will have in total:

- Brocade 300 switches;

- Fabric License;

- Extended Fabric License;

- 8 Gig FC Licence;

- Brocade 8G LW 10km SFPs;

- Single-mod optics between datacenters.

Is it enough to connect datacenters in a single SAN-fabric? Real distance between datacenters is 300-500m.

Re: Licenses: Fabric VS Extended fabric

is correct.

keep in mind, each Switch partecipate in the Fabric required a Fabric License.

same for Extended Fabric and Trunking License.
