License issue 6505

Dear All,

We've two FC Switch on site and we've updated both switches from "6.0.x" to "7.3.2" and both update finished successfully but only one of the FC Switches lost it's license.

When I'm connecting to the switch I can't see any license on it while using "licenseshow" command while the other shows two below licenses on it.

  • Fabric Watch license
  • Second Ports on Demand license - additional 12 port upgrade license

Before upgrade process, I've saved "supportsave & configuration" for both switches.

I'd be grateful if anyone could kindly help me on this case.

Thanks in advance

@Kasraeian

->License issue 6505

->We've two FC Switch on site and we've updated both switches from "6.0.x" to "7.3.2"

additional,

->Second Ports on Demand license - additional 12 port upgrade license

POD License for 12 Port is not available for Brocade 6505

Brocade 6505 was introduced with FOS 7.0.1, now you talk here from FOS 6.0.x

can you please specified the exact SwitchType from "switchshow" command ?

I strong assume you have another switch and not 6505

about upgrade procedure, " from "6.0.x" to "7.3.2" is not correct Path, but before whe continue here I would like to know the exact

SwitchType / model

Re: License issue 6505

Dear Antonio,

Thanks for your kind reply, I've checked the "switchshow" and the result was "switchType:   118.1" and as I checked it seems "switch type 118 is relates to 6505".

As I've saved both "SupportSave" and "Configupload" before update process, I checked "FCSW02-S0cp-201611141247.SSHOW_SYS.txt" and in I find below things.

1. this file shows that the switch has license before update process

2. this file contains three commands "licenseshow", "cat -v /etc/fabos/licenses" and "cat -v /etc/fabos/licensedb"

Also, I've disabled the switch and uploaded config-backup back to the switch and at the end it shows below message.

   configDownload operation may take several minutes
   to complete for large files.
   Do you want to continue [y/n]: y
   Password:
   invalid license-key "################"

   Doing configDownload on switch ...
   Activating configDownload: Switch is disabled

   configDownload complete: All selected config parameters are downloaded

As I mentioned before when I'm running the "licenseshow" it's shows "No licenses installed" but when I'm running the "cat -v /etc/fabos/licenes" it shows the license is still available there; also same string is available in "/etc/fabos/licensedb"

Thanks for your kine help

P.S: I don't know what's happen but I couldn't get back with my inital account "Kasraeian".

Re: License issue 6505

[ Edited ]

switchtype 118 is the 6505 but as saied this switch don't support any FOS 6.x release for this reason I ask for exact model.

login as admin, and post please follow:

the entire output from "licenseshow"

you don't need to waste your time and edited the key as xxxxxx, because each license is unique and associated to switch WWN.

you wrote in native post

->Fabric Watch license

is not longer available, this can my have several reason.

Begin with FOS 7.3.x a Switch with Fabric Watch and Performance Monitring License, the FOS convert the License as "fabric Vision capable"

for this reason I want to know the exact liceseshow output.

back to upgrade, how you have started the upgrade to 7.3.2 ? again FOS 6.x is not supported on 6505

what FOS release was installed before you start firmwaredownload ?

Sorry. as you said, it wasn't 6.0.x.

I've checked As for update, direct update from 7.0.2 to 7.3.2 was not supported and possible.

Based on the note shown on first attempt (which didn't even started), I updated to 7.1.2 then to 7.3.2.

Re: License issue 6505

@Sohrab

-> I updated to 7.1.2 then to 7.3.2.

Upgrade from 7.1.x to 7.3.x is supported but disruptive, however is very courious that th elicense disappear after firmwaredownload.

anyway is reccommended to do firmwaredownload accordly Firmware Upgrade Path procedure

can you please post from the switch in question login as admin and not as root the output of

"licenseidshow"

Re: License issue 6505

Here is the out put from "licenseshow" using "admin" user

eniqmb_fc_sw02:admin> licenseshow
No licenses installed.

I didn't get any error or problem but I can do the firmwaredownload one more time, is it fine to do the installation again?
