2 ISL ports that connect 2 McData 64 port directors are generating‘invalid transmission words" and CRC errors. In a 24 hour period the error count for 'Invalid Transmission Words" is on average 30 per day, w/ a high 60.The CRC errors average about 10 per 24 hour period. The errors only show up on one switch. The ports are on different ASICs. There is no trunking of ports on the switch. There seems to be no host impact that I am aware of. I do not have a fibre channel analyzer. I would be interested to know if there is a rule of thumb about "acceptable' number of these errors. My assumption is the root cause is high utilization on the ports. Any comments appreciated.
