Inband Management not possible

switches cannot ba managed using inband management, because FM assigns adress 10.77.77.77 to any ethernet interface that has no IP adress, and tries to reach the switch using this adress. has anyone found a workaround for this problem?

Re: Inband Management not possible

What do you mean by "in-band management"? Are you trying to manage your switches over FCIP or over ethernet?

Re: Inband Management not possible

Per fabric, i have one switch with an ip on the ethernet interface. This switch is the gateway for all other switches in the fabric. All switches have ips on the fibrechannel side. Fabric manager shows the ip 10.77.77.77 on all ethernet interfaces that don't have an ip ("none") or ip 0.0.0.0 and tries to reach the switch using 10.77.77.77 which is, of course, not possible. Brocade supports inband management, but fabricmanager obviously doesnt.

Re: Inband Management not possible

You're right. FM won't like that configuration. I believe, FM makes API calls to each switch via http and determines how to group the switches together as fabrics that way. You would almost need a way to route the IP traffic through the one ethernet link onto the FCIP segment to manage those switches with FM.Thanks!
