ISL saturation

Hello,

Basically I have an 4G ISL connections between a Brocade 300 and Brocade 4900. It seems that this ISL link is becoming saturated. See below for details.

stat_wtx                308356940   4-byte words transmitted

stat_wrx                4215040290  4-byte words received

stat_ftx                374032922   Frames transmitted

tim_txcrd_z             103546385   Time TX Credit Zero (2.5Us ticks)

Unfortunately I don't have a trunk license. I was wondering if I can still create multiple ISL connections between these two switches? Or does that require a license as well?

Any help is appreciated.

Thanks,

Tony

Re: ISL saturation

Hi, ISL them with ports that aren't in the same port group and multiple ISLs should be enabled. You may want to investigate exchange based routing (aptpolicy).

Re: ISL saturation

Hi Guldmyr,

Do I need to configure the port for ISL? Or is it enough just to plug in another cable on a different port group? Is multiple ISL an option I have to set?

Thanks,

Tony

Re: ISL saturation

Hi,

By default, the port first tries to become an ISL, so unless you have previously disabled this option, you don't need to configure anything in the switchs (unless it is an extended ISL, which does not seem to be...).
