IN-1620 password recovery

Hi all,

I just inherited a Mcdata IN-1620 but of course no one knows the passwords for it.

Anybody know how to reset it back to defaults???

Re: IN-1620 password recovery

This SAN Router does not ask for a username, only if you want to login with read or modify and the docs say the passwords are public and private repectively...and of course they don't work

docs located here.. http://www.sandirect.com/documents/1620_adm_config.pdf

Type the User Name Administrator.
Type the Password for the SAN Router, and click Login.
The default passwords are operator (for Operator providing read
access) and password (for Administrator providing read and
write, or modify access). When the password is verified, the
Element Manager main window displays.
You are now logged in and ready to use the Element Manager.

Re: IN-1620 password recovery

The output you post here show as the Out-of-Band Management Port as be changed ( by user ),  as SNMP login credential.

This is the reason that you don't get the Login credential like the screen i have post here.

Re: IN-1620 password recovery

Andy,
The output from the serial or Web GUI is the same.
I want to say that the owner has probably changed the management Mode in the Router.
I believe - not sure - in the old EOSi release before 5.0 it was possible to change the Traditional Login Credential mode ( Administrator / password ) to SNMP mode or viceversa, i see from the output you have post here,  EOSi 4.5 is already Installed in the router.
And i believe it was possible as management Port's to use of both, the In-band GE Port and the Out-of-Band 10/100 Port.

Re: IN-1620 password recovery

I have the same issue with a couple of Nishan 3300's running 4.5.  I need to wipe the config - my basic need it to reset to factory defaults before decommission.  The only authentication available via sanVergance Manager, telnet and serial console is snmp and I do not know the modify string, it is not the default of "private" .  Is there some key-combo to get to username/password authentication or a method to reset to factory defaults via physical access?  I have found the switch reset inset on the front right of the panel.  I would greatly appreciate any info, thanks!!
