I'm not happy with MAPS and congestion

Since moving to MAPS from bottleneckmon we no longer see congestion reported, just latency.  I am struggling to believe what is being reported.  We have seen a couple of ports that are used by servers to communicate with virtual tape devices, (so mostly writing), and we see a MAPS 1003 error with Current Value:[DEV_LATENCY_IMPACT,IO_PERF_IMPACT, 107374.2% of 10 secs].  The odd thing is that two completely different ports on different switches report the same value. This may well be that the buffers can't cope with what the server is trying to send, but the figure in the message is bizzarre.

Porterrshow indicates no port problems.

I think I understood what I was seeing with bottleneckmon.  Now I'm puzzled.

Re: I'm not happy with MAPS and congestion

Move to 7.4.1c (to solve some bugs) and have a look at FPI. The performance categories have changed and bottleneckmon (which was a bit of intermediate hack/quick fix) will be (or is) depreciated.

Thanks Erwin - I'll check out the release notes with a view to upgrading in the Autumn.

Hi Antonio,

Indeed. I didn't have the numbers at hand. :-)
