How does "portCfgLossTov" work on Brocade 5100?

Hi,

I have a DWDM system with a path protection which is connected to Brocade 5100 at 2G rate. Brocade 5100 2G port will be getting Loss of Signal for a very short time during path protection switch due to its switching mechanism. I can measure this time and it is around 15ms maximum.

I have enabled “portCfgLossTov parameter assuming that protection switch is not going to cause any “Link Failure” on the link, but it does.

I have found following definition in one of the Brocade documents about “portCfgLossTov.

portCfgLossTov

Enables or disables de-bouncing of signal loss for front end ports.

SYNOPSIS portcfglosstov port mode

DESCRIPTION Use this command to enable or disable the de-bouncing of loss of signal for 100 ms for front end ports.

My version is : Fabric OS: v6.4.2a

Is there any way to make this parameter work according to its definition?

have you tried to set the Port Speed Fixed at 2G instead AN ?

Portspeed was already set to 2G fix rate. I am copying my port configuration to below:

Hi Antonio,

Our DWDM system is fully transparent to Fibre Channel protocol. We only need to set required Fibre Channel rate which is 2G for this example. I added a diagram to show how optical path protection works.

Initially the blue path is active and both Brocade switches get signal only from the blue path, Card 1 and Card 2. Card 11 and Card 22 client port lasers are turned off.

Card 1 and Card 2 need to turn off client port lasers to let the system select the red path when there is a failure on the blue path. Right at this point, Card 11 and Card 22 turn on client port lasers. This transition times takes no more than 15ms, and I can measure this time. Both Brocade switches get Loss of Signal and/or a signal that is not at 2G FC rate during this time.

Do you know what was the reason to have this command and what was the expected outcome when it was implemented?
