Frame buffer differences between 5100 and 5300

Can someone explain to me why the frame buffers are different between 5100 and 5300? The datasheets state the following:

5100 - 2048 dynamically allocated, 1692 maximum per port

5300 - 1460 dynamically allocated, 268 maximum per port

Thank you in advance.

Regards,

Chetan.

Re: Frame buffer differences between 5100 and 5300

Due a ASIC restriction.

5100 Based Condor2 ASIC

5300 ( and Brocade 300 ) Based GoldenEye2 ASIC

Condor2 ASIC's ( same ASIC is used in DCX ) is powerfull as the GoldenEye2 ASIC's
