Firmwaredownload command failed. Unexpected reboot occurred during firmware download. The command is aborted.

Hi,

I tried upgrading FOS on a DCX8510-8 from v7.0.0a to v7.1.0c via Brocade Network Advisor.

The second CP started with the upgrade and was rebooted.

2013/09/28-10:20:12, , 40583, SLOT 7 | CHASSIS, INFO, brcddcx01, Standby CP booted successfully with new firmware.

HA status also appeared as "Cold Recovered" and not "Warm Recovered".

After this I again tried the firmwaredonwload process but this time from the CLI.

It completed successfully without any issues.

Does anyone have any comments about his?

Thanks.

Re: Firmwaredownload command failed. Unexpected reboot occurred during firmware download. The command is aborted.

both, firmwareshow and firmwaredownloadstatus output show fine, is probable you get the error because BNA lost for short of moment during firmwaredownload connectivity,

from my point of view no reason to worry about the message, however i would monitoring both Control Processors for a couple of day.

Is now the Switch in Healthy or Marginal Status ???

Hi,

The switch is fine now after a second upgrade was done from the cli to ensure that all partitions are on the same level.

Do you have any idea what the to defect id's mean?

CU hit defect 460768 which was the fix for defect 298657.

Thanks.

DEFECT 460768 is reported in FOS Release Notes 7.2.0a

298657 show a bit Old, ( FOS 6.x ) where you get this DEFECT ID ?

Re: Firmwaredownload command failed. Unexpected reboot occurred during firmware download. The command is aborted.

One of my colleagues logged a call with Brocade with the issue and this was in the case notes.

As I have it 298657 caused a panic due to parity errors on the ASIC that it didn't know how to handle and rebooted the CP.

460768 was created to resolve this issue and is visible in FOS v7.0.2d release notes.

Our issue occurred while upgrading from 7.0.0a to 7.1.0c.

So this issue shouldn't happen again.

But I think that there is still a possibility of it happening again on a switch while upgrading from 7.0.0a to a later level than 7.0.2d

What are your feelings?

Thanks.
