Firmware Update Fails

I currently have two Silkworm 4100 switches which are running 5.0.1b. I am trying a simple jump in the firmware version to v5.0.5c (the first of many).

The update from DCFM completes but when I run firmwareshow I still see 5.0.1b in both the primary and secondary partitions. It will then let me do a firmware commit but then again both partions still have 5.0.1b. Im a little stumped on this to say the least, any help would be greatly appreciated,

Thanks,

Gareth.

Re: Firmware Update Fails

I've just tried this from the command line and get a different error:

Cannot download ftp://ftp:<password>@3.229.188.200/v5.0.5c/SWBD32/release.plist.

Firmwaredownload failed. (0x12) Cannot access package list (.plist) file.

The FTP log shows:

Re: Firmware Update Fails

1) make sure Switch IP is in same IP range and Subnet as you FTP

2) make sure FTP is accessible and both - switch and FTP - are not behind by firewall

3) start "firmwaredownload" from command line

4) put all information required

5) start make sure you point on correct FTP folder repository, like:

   -->>> IP Address

  --->>> ftp_server_folder/v.5.0.5c/release.plist

Re: Firmware Update Fails

Hey, thanks for the reply.

All IP details look right and I can ping the FTP server from the swtich.

There are no firewalls in between.

For the location im pointing at v5.0.5c/release.plist. When I FTP to the server, I can see the v5.0.5c directory in the root.

Cheers Gareth.

--->>> Im going to try and go to 5.3

do you mean FOS v5.3.x or FOS v5.0.3

keep in mind, you cannot upgrade from 5.0.x to 5.3.x direct

Re: Firmware Update Fails

You right, apologies I ment to say v5.2.3. That has taken without issue, I have no idea what the issue was but ill keep jumping through the versions and see how I go. Thanks again for the help.
