Fabric licensing question

We currently have two fabrics with three switches each, and we're currently expanding the network to include more switches.

We've been told by a HP engineer that we can only have 5 switches in each fabric, and will require license upgrades to allow more switches in the fabric.

All the switches are Brocade, and we have fabric licenses for them. I can't see any mention of limitations in this document either:

http://community.brocade.com/docs/DOC-1696

The engineer sounds wrong to me, but I can find any documentation with stated limitations; can anyone confirm that there isn't a limitation and pointers to any documentation about it? Are there any other limits I should be aware of?

Switch Type  / Model ?

on the prompt execute the command "licenseshow" and post the result here

If you have a Standard "Fabric License" installed, no other License is required to build a Fabric.

Re: Fabric licensing question

We have a real mix of switches, I've just included the license names and not the codes. The licenses are the same for both fabrics.

Brocade 200E's:

    Web license

    Zoning license

    Fabric license

Ports on Demand license - additional 4 port upgrade

Ports on Demand license - additional 4 port upgrade

Brocade 5100's:

    Fabric license

First Ports on Demand license - additional 8 port upgrade license

Second Ports on Demand license - additional 8 port upgrade license

    Enhanced Group Management license

    8 Gig FC license

Brocade 5480 (from a HP blade centre):
    Fabric license
Full Ports on Demand license - additional 12 port upgrade license
    Enhanced Group Management license
    8 Gig FC license

Re: Fabric licensing question

as mention in my preview post and n the DOC

as you can see,  all switch have current a Fabric License installed.

All Switch are covered to Build a Fabric, no other LIC is required.

Re: Fabric licensing question

Many greeting to HP Engineering.

This statement is INCORRECT

We've been told by a HP engineer that we can only have 5 switches in each fabric, and will require license upgrades to allow more switches in the fabric.
