FOS downgrade from 6.2.x to 6.1.x on Brocade 4100

Hello,

I have tried to downgrade via DCFM 10.4.5 first but it announced me that I must do it via cli.

OK, I agreed as the release notes state that this is a special case, quoting:

All downgrades from FOS v6.2.2 to FOS v6.1.x require a restart and are disruptive to traffic.
Platforms supporting Virtual Fabrics must have the feature disabled prior to downgrading below
v6.2.0.
When downgrading from FOS v6.2.x to v6.1, configuration parameters such as switch name
in FOSv6.2 are not persisted.

Any ideas? Am I missing something here?

Re: FOS downgrade from 6.2.x to 6.1.x on Brocade 4100

Simplify your URL

From:

firmwaredownload -s -p ftp 1.2.3.4,admin,/Firmware/Switches/6.x/6.1.x/6.1.2/v6.1.2c/SWBD32/release.plist,pass2show

To:

firmwaredownload -s -p ftp 1.2.3.4,admin,/Firmware/Switches/6.x/6.1.x/6.1.2/v6.1.2c,pass2show

Besides the switch specific software for type 32 it also requires some generic modules which it might not be able to find if you put in an URL like this. I'm also not sure if the -s parameter is supported on a 4100 since this is normally just used on multi CP directors. Remove that one as wel.

Give it a try and see if that works.

Cheers

Re: FOS downgrade from 6.2.x to 6.1.x on Brocade 4100

Hi Erwin,

That is the normal URL when you point to your DCFM server's FTP service and you've previously imported the FOS in the repository.

The actual problem was the v6.2.x cli help documentation which instructs you to point to the "release.plist" file instead of just the base folder.

Your answer was correct. Thank you!

Regards,

Paul
