FOS: direct upgrade from 5.0.x to 5.3.2?

I have IBM BladeCenter chassis with Brocade FC switch module installed. Switch's firmware version is 5.0.2. New firmware for the switch listed on IBM site is 5.3.2a.

According to FOS administrator's guide I need to use two-stage upgrade process: first 5.0 to 5.1 or 5.2, and then 5.1 / 5.2 to 5.3.2. But there are NO previous versions of switch firmware available on IBM site.

Is it possible to upgrade 5.0.x directly to 5.3.x? What will happen? Afterwards I can reconfigure the switch manually if needed.

Do you want to destroy the SWITCH?

???

According to the logic of my initial questions I surely do not want to destroy the switch. That's why I've asked the question in the first place.

Should I presume that your answer is negative, and direct upgrade is not possible? Or what?

Correct.

Your cannot Upgrade the FOS direct from 5.0.x to 5.3.x, you need to Upgrade two Stepp from 5.0 to any 5.1 or 5.2 before upgrade to 5.3.x.

Is the Switch Blade 3016 ?

If yes, my Experience by this Blade upgrade from 5.0 to 5.1 then to 5.2 and Finally to 5.3.

Second, Upgrade via Telnet ftp ( and not from a GUI)  trugh the CLI with the standard firmwaredownload command without any option.

Good Luck.

I know this page, but my switch model is not in the list. Is it safe to upgrade it using packages mentioned there?
