(Dell) Brocade M5424 Blade SAN Switch & FalconStor?

Hi,

we are using the Dell Brocade M5424 SAN Blade Switch in a Dell Bladecenter M1000e. Storage is provisioned through a pair of FalconStor NSS appliances backed by 2 AMS2500.

Is somebody using this switches together with a FalconStor? We are having issues with the failover (it disconnects the LUNs for a second which our MS Failover Cluster does not like ;-) ). Or some other hints with similar switches?

Thanks,

Tom

Re: (Dell) Brocade M5424 Blade SAN Switch & FalconStor?

zath,

I don't think the principal problem is caused by the Blade Switch.

First, is FalconStore NSS Supported and Certified for such Environments ?

If yes, with FOS release is Supported ?

accordingly Brocade Compatibility Matrices, only IPStor is Supported.

Re: (Dell) Brocade M5424 Blade SAN Switch & FalconStor?

follow this URL

HDS AMS2500 is Certified for NSS with FW Rel. Firmware 08B5/F-Z

http://www.falconstor.com/certification-matrix/disk-storage-devices

Dell Blade Center M1000e is not Supported

http://www.falconstor.com/certification-matrix/server-hardware

thereby, M5424 Blade Switch is Unsupported.

Re: (Dell) Brocade M5424 Blade SAN Switch & FalconStor?

Hi!

I know that the M5424 is not *yet* on the certification list of FalconStor. However, this does not prevent such a setup :-) Question is, if somebody is using such a combination. Or, a similar one? (e.g. a Brocade 5300 with FalconStor NSS) If yes, are there special settings needed?

Note: IPStor and FalconStor seems to be identical/similar. Basically, FalconStor is a virtual storage appliance but which is sold as a hardware appliance when bundeled with a server. In our case they are using Dell R720's.

Thanks for the hint with the AMS Firmware by the way. Will check that!
