Configuring FCIP for site to site replication of IBM VTS data

Hello,

We currently have a FCIP tunnel for site to site replication using B7800 FX24 switch with fos 7 particulary for opensystems & mainframe data

I wanted to know if we can use the same tunnel for replication of  IBM TS 7700 VTS data from one site to another another over a 1G link ?

or create another tunnel separately for the same ?

will I have to connect to the VTS to one of the Ge ports on the 7800 ?

Thanks

from my point of view, this is a bit complexes design.

Like Intermix FICON and FCP, I don't think you can create and/or move traffic both open and ficon on same tunnel.

I think as per my opinion you must create another tunnel.

Another problem is, I've a doubt you can assign if necessary - since you are in Intermix - NPIV over FCIP.

...but is probable I'm wrong

Two can answer more accurate such question are Dr. Steve Guendert and Dave Litle

Re: Configuring FCIP for site to site replication of IBM VTS data

Thanks antonio, apologies onposting on the wrong section.

However, we dont replicate the mainframe and opensystems traffic at the same time to the secondary site (what if i tried to do it under strict timescales having no other option left ?) this is something we would like to try. if thats the case will the current tunnel have to be modified to accomodate FICON traffic i.e parameters ?

we move them to staging storage and the storage to storage replication happens.having mentioned that will there be a difference when data is transmitted over the fcip tunnel if its opensystems or mainframe data ?

When u say create another fcip tunnel we currently have a 1g bandwidth link which uses a certain vlan.

will the newFCIP tunnel have different ge ip addressess and vlan tagging ?(vlan tagging done is at the layer 2 level and not at the brocade level. I'm not sure what is recommended on the same.

when i create another fcip tunnel will it be effectively another 1G dedicated bandwidth ? or is it possible to share the original 1G link please ?

Thanks
