Hi,

This is the current fabric:

brocade1:admin> fabricshow

When we tried to connect the new brocade, there was some failure:
The E port was on a condition of "segmented (incompatible)" and the merge didn't succeed.

Can you advise?

Meanwhile we created zoning on the new brocade (as standalone), but we can delete them.

Thanks

Re: Can't add a switch to the fabric - E port segmented (incompatible)

By ISL's between Brocade and QLogic the Port must be Set as G Port.

see threads below.

http://community.brocade.com/message/9714#9714

BTW, QLogic and brocade FOS 6.x are not longer Supported by Brocade.

Hi,

But we've connected the new brocade (brocade3) to the current brocade (brocade1), not to the QLogic port.

Re: Can't add a switch to the fabric - E port segmented (incompatible)

In this case, you must Upgrade the FOS in the Brocade 200 to v5.3.0 or Higher.

FOS 6.3.x cannot operate with Brocade 200 and the current loaded FOS Rel. v5.2

For details about compatibility refer the Release Notes.

Is this correct that the upgrade of the 200e 5.2.0b to 5.3 is nondistruptive ?

If it's distruptive, what are my options to downgrade the new switch ?

It's disruptive.

don't change the situation, because the Min. FOS Release supported by Brocade 300 is FOS 6.2, and operate same as 6.3 only whit FOS 5.3 and not 5.x ol Lower.

As mentioned, for details beetwen compatibility refer please in the Releases Notes.

Re: Can't add a switch to the fabric - E port segmented (incompatible)

But 1 of my 2 current switches in the fabric is 71.2 ( brocade 300) with FOS 6.1.0j, and also on the release notes of 6.1.0j the brocade300 is written as supported.

BTW, what happens if I connect the new brocade to the other brocade 300 ? will it still won't work because the fabric has a switch with FOS 5.2 ?

Thanks a lot,

Amir

I downgraded the Brocade300 to 6.1.0j, but I still get the same error of: segmanted,(incompatible)

Re: Can't add a switch to the fabric - E port segmented (incompatible)

have you configured the fab.ops parameters after disabling the new SW, same as the old sw with whom you are going to connect the ISL.have you set different Domain IDs.segmented incompatible may be because of the parameters you have set

pls find attached the SAN migration guide and go through properly to understand the merging of the SWs.

if you find this has helped you pls make it correct answered
