Can multiple logical switches be allocated unique IP addresses?

Is it possible to allocated unique IP addresses to logical switches within a chassis e.g. DCX thus giving the possibility of directly communicating and identifying an individual logical switch? And if so, how?

The reason for this question is that we are looking at some performance software (Virtual Instruments "Virtual Wisdom") which communicates with switches using SNMP and Telnet.  If the SW can identify each logical switch by IP it should give a better overview of our complicated combination of physical and virtual fabrics in our Brocade DCX based infrastructure.

AFAIK each Logical Switch must have a uniqe IP Adress, with other word, you cannot assign Unique IP Adress to TWO or more LS.

Hi,

you can add with the command ipaddrset -ls ... an IP address to a logical switch. This IP is not reachable over the Ethernet Interface instead you can reach this interface over FC. This means you need an HBA that has an FC connection to that Virtual Fabric. The Host has to be able to talk IPFC protocol and you need a broadcast zone as well to make IPFC working.

I think this kind of configuration is not very popular.

I hope this helps. If this answers your question please mark the thread.
