Adding Brocade 5100 switches to existing McData 4700 SAN

Tomorrow morning I am adding two Brocade 5100 switches to my existing McData 4700 SAN.

I have read the documentation and a few discussions onthis board and I think everything is properly setup.

  • McData switches have been upgraded to firmware v09.09.09
  • McData switches are set to Open Fabric 1.0
  • Brocades are running FOS v6.4.2b
  • Brocades are set to interopmode 3 (McData Open Fabric)
  • All switches have unique domain IDs set
  • R_A_TOV and E_D_TOV has been set the same on all switches
  • All zoning information has been cleared out of the Brocade switches

Is there anything I've missed?

Can't tell you about interop modes, but I'm curious of you thought off running the 5100's in AG mode?

Since it's not a virtualised environemnt I didn't think AG was the correct solution.

Of course I could have been wrong about that.

In any case the McData/brocade ISLs will only be in place for a relatively short time, until they can be retired.

The attaching of the Brocade 5100s to the McData SAN went (relatively) smoothly.

The only issue was the need to turn off "Safe Zoning Mode" on the McData switches.
