Hi,

Check snmp config for that switch, in BNA and the switch itself. It may be a discovery issue.

Re: 7800 brocade ext switch is unreachable

Hi,

Depending on the exact message and firmware of the Switch, the httpd might have gone into defunct state.

Suggest to schedule a window and perform a hareboot, to restart the daemons, and try again.

Regards,

Ed

u right, brocade support identified & recommended the same. we see defunct process.

nobody4320  0.0  0.0  0 0 ?    ZDec04   0:00 <defunct>
nobody4321  0.0  0.0  0 0 ?    ZDec04   0:00 <defunct>
nobody4322  0.0  0.0  0 0 ?    ZDec04   0:00 <defunct>
nobody4323  0.0  0.0  0 0 ?    ZDec04   0:00 <defunct>

Brocade Solution:

It appears the switch is affected by the defect below.

Defect ID: DEFECT000409878 Technical Severity: Medium

Summary: HTTPD (Apache server 1.3.31-10) goes to defunct state.

Symptom: Customer loses manageability via BNA.

In order to recover from the state, you may reboot / perform an upgrade via the CLI.

To avoid the issue, the recommendation is to upgrade to 7.0.2a or higher.
