You should be able to leave it. I'm pretty sure the extended PID format is only for use with older switches that you have not already changed to the core PID format to keep some OSs from having to reconfigure the device addresses that have the PID in the device address. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

The new extended PID is to support addressing up to 128 ports on a same switch.(see release notes of Fabric OS 4.2.0b and also Fabric OS Procedure Guide v4.2.0)
