300 SAN switch firmware download issues w SCP

I am attempting to download firmware using SCP Server.  I get the following messages from the SCP server app:

Authenticated root1 from IP x.x.x.x

User root1 from IP x.x.x.x downloading file at "SWBD71/release.plist"

Authenticated root1 from IP x.x.x.x

User root1 from IP x.x.x.x downloading file at "install"

Then it stops and I get the following message from the Switch:

The server is inaccessible or firmware path is invalid. Please make sure the server name or IP address, the user/password and the firmware path are valid and the server supports SSH password authentication.

I thought I was beyond the issues in this message....

Can someone help, username is root1; upgrading from v6.3.1a to v6.4.1b;

Re: 300 SAN switch firmware download issues w SCP

is a common question, use search option to find similarly threads.

in short form, you point to wrong folder -> "SWBD71/release.plist"

you must point to ftp/scp root folder i.e. /v6.4.1b and not in subfolder.

Re: 300 SAN switch firmware download issues w SCP

Thanks, i do not refernce or point to SWBD71, I have it setup to point to /v6.4.1b.

Somehow the switch want to access SWBD71/release.plist.

Then it moves on and accesses the install file under v6.4.1b then gives me the standard error message:

Re: 300 SAN switch firmware download issues w SCP

My solution was to use a Linux Server (vs. Windows Solarwinds SCP app)  as my SCP/SSH server with the IOS files residing on it.  Then run the commands to download the IOS to each switch.

FYI: SCP/SSH service exists on our Linux Servers and is running by default.
