spanning tree interoperability between Brocade 7450 and Cisco Catalyst

My access Cisco switches are connectedto the 7450 core .switch. Currently, I have standard STP running on the Cisco and the Brocade.I am not sure if spanning tree even works. Now I was thinking to run RSTP on both the Cisco and the Brocade. Has anybody implemented this scenario? .Thank you very much

Re: spanning tree interoperability between Brocade 7450 and Cisco Catalyst

Hi,

I've implemented lots of hybrid network structures beetwen Brocade and Cisco and never seen any compatibility issues.

I use "pvst-mode" command under tagged interfaces at my Brocade core (L3/router code) switches for interoperability with Cisco.

I don't remember where but i had read that "pvst-mode" was default behaviour when Brocade sees a Cisco device for stp operations.

Anyway i even so write pvst-mode command set in cli.

Here just a little config sample:

!
global-stp
!
!
interface ethernet 1/2/1
dual-mode 1
pvst-mode
!

I hope it helps. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.
