Why won't FCX RIP v2 redistribute my static route?

Running 7202d on FCX stack, no filters, rip redistribution, rip v2-only on virtual uplink interface, no poison-reverse.

I add a static route for host

ip route 10.2.2.2/32 10.1.1.222

The FCX connects directly to the /24 subnet that includes 10.1.1.222.  However, it does not have the 10.2.0.0/16 subnet (or any portion) in its routing table.  I simply want it to advertise a route for the 10.2.2.2 external host.

Possible?

The underlying question:  apart from filtering, how does RIP v2 on this device decide which static routes it will actually redistribute?
