Trunking three switches with different zone config names

Hi All,

I am in a bit mess over here

I have to trunk three switches which have different zone config names.

The three switches are in production environment... Two of them are of SAP and other for exchange and backup.

I guess if I do the trunking the switch will go into segmented mode... as to what config to apply ?

I am not sure how to go about it.

I need your help in completing this task.

If possible a detailed process and precautions to take care of, will be of great help.

Re: Trunking three switches with different zone config names

You cannot ISL-Trunking TWO or more switches with different zoning/config.

when you do that ISL will segmented.

Re: Trunking three switches with different zone config names

Hi,

get the zones and aliases (and everything else required to ISL switches) identical on all the three switches before you trunk them (if you want to do trunking, make sure you got license for that - you don't need to use trunking to connect switches).

Meaning you take the config from switch1 and add it to switch2 and switch3. Repeat until all zone databases are identical.

CLI commands that could help you: cfgshow; configupload; configdownload

Perhaps DCFM/BNA has tools for this.
