Takes 20+ seconds to SSH to a switch

I am setting up 30 switches for a remote site. Everything seems to be working fine. I can ping any switch extremely quickly with 1-3ms response times. However, when I try to SSH to a switch it takes 20+ seconds, and during that time the switch management interface stops responding to pings. What could be causing this?

Agayed,

Could you mention what switches are deployed in the remote site?

thanks

They are still onsite. I am using the following

Stacks - FCX648SPOE / FCX624SPOE

Single Access -  FWS624POE /  FWS648POE

Cores - NetIron CES 2024F

Re: Takes 20+ seconds to SSH to a switch

Thankyou for sharing the info above. What firmware version is running on each switch ?  This looks like a TAC scenario, you might need to share the wireshark output and they will be further able to assist with the issue.

thanks,

Re: Takes 20+ seconds to SSH to a switch

Try to get one Linux/UNIX box,  enable ssh login debug from that Linux/UNIX host:

ssh  -vvv  -l  admin ip-of-that-switch-which-got-issue

Half duplex issue?

ifconfig eth0

ethtool -v eth0

mii-tool eth0

Are there any ip firewall between your client and switch?

As far as I know we do not need to care for DNS reserve query config for SSH daemon on Borcoade switch.

If you are using director, maybe you can try hafailover.
