Manament on MLX

I have a hard time figuring out how the Out-of-band port works on the MLX.

if i do

interface management 1

ip address 1.1.1.1/24

enable

the route shows up in the default routing table.

There is no way to put the management port in to the vrf mangement? how do you guys fix this?

I dont want to mix the routing table of the mangement....

Is a 10G port able to run in 1G mode?

Hello,

Been there, there is nothing you can do to change that.

You can't even change the size of the MTU on the management port.

HTH... or not...

Re: Manament on MLX

Hello,

Well, a few options here :

a- Console ports connected to a console router behind an OOB box (definetly a must have)

b- Loopback forwarded in a VRF,

c- Public loopback with ACLs,

d- you name it....

Pick the one that suits you.

For our backbone, I deployed a management VRF and binded a VLAN in the VRF. Each site has a dedicated private IP subnet. I then concentrated all management ports per site to a basic L2 switch in that VLAN.

Problem I discovered is that MLX only have one mac address for the entire chassis. So when I tried to use the dedicated management port and connected it to the switch it wasn't working because that unique mac was learned from two sides.... Nothing you can do about that

(Note : MLX serves as uplink to the switch).

HTH.
