MCT default-route

I am using a pair of MLXe running MCT in my core.  At the moment, all the external routing is done via static routes, but I couldn’t figure out the best way for default-route with the MLXe with failover in mind.  Both MLXes have a layer3 link to the upstream device with a default-route point to that link.  I ended up running OSPF between the MLXe with “default-information-originate” and “redistribute static”, to allow the MLXe to learn the default-route from the other MLXe in case an uplink went down.  Is there a better way to do this?  Open to any ideas.

Re: MCT default-route

You can use vrrp on the upstream routers that service the default route ip.  The have an election to decide who actively responds to the ip address.  If the active router stops responding the other router picks up the ip.
