ICX6430-24P all ports negotiating at 100FD :-/

Hey Everyone,

Wondering if you can help me out here, I have all my ethernet ports on an ICX6430-24p set to AUTO negotiation, and all my devices are 1G compatible, yet none of them connect at 1G Smiley Sad  if I set them to 1000-full-master or 1000-full-slave they lose connection.

Any suggestions as to what's up?

Thanks

john

John,

did you try to set a Port to fixed 1000 ? what happened ?

Port speed and duplex mode configuration syntax
The following commands change the port speed of copper interface 8 on a FastIron device from the
default of 10/100/1000 auto-sense, to 100 Mbps operating in full-duplex mode.
device(config)# interface ethernet 1/1/8
device(config-if-e1000-1/1/8)# speed-duplex 100-full
Syntax: speed-duplex value
The value variable can be one of the following values:
• 10-full - 10 Mbps, full duplex
• 10-half - 10 Mbps, half duplex
• 100-full - 100 Mbps, full duplex
• 100-half - 100 Mbps, half duplex
• 1000-full-master - 1 Gbps, full duplex master
• 1000-full-slave - 1 Gbps, full duplex slave
• auto - auto-negotiation
The default is auto (auto-negotiation).
Use the no form of the command to restore the default.

When I run the command

device(config)# interface ethernet 1/1/8
device(config-if-e1000-1/1/8)# speed-duplex 1000-full-master or 1000-full-slave the device doesn't connect anymore...shows up as disconnected in windows.

Make sure the devices themselves aren't hard coded, take a device directly to the switch and patch in to verify they connect at 1G.

We have had trouble with some devices on older cable plant and newer Brocade gear not negotiating to 1G, these were Wyse devices specifically. Turns out the original jacks were only CAT5 instead of 5E and were causing issues, this stuff was mostly installed in the 90's, so not a shock.

Thanks for the tip.  Connecting at the switch does get 1000 connection.  However, the entire environment is newly wired with Cat5e cabling, and configured ends.  Everything DID connect at 1000 up until the equipment was restarted a couple of weeks ago.  All wifi access points support 1g are configured for auto negotiate.  All nics support 1g and are set to auto negotiate.

:-/ this is troubling... I guess I'm going to have to go back and double check all the wiring again...

Odd, maybe disconnect everything and reconnect one at a time, then try to reboot the entire switch if that fails, and lastly, contact Brocade support if it still doesn't work.
