How do I enable ISR interVLAN (ve) Routing in FVS648g, firmware 7.4(routing)?

We recently upgraded our FWS648g switches to routers with firmware 7.4. We want to enable interVLAN routing. The devices cannot see devices on another VLAN (ve).

  • Here is the current (test) config:
  • BR-telnet@FWS648G Router 3(config)#show run

    Current configuration:

    ver 07.4.00jT7e1

    module 1 fws1g-48-port-copper-base-module

    global-stp

vlan 1 name DEFAULT-VLAN by port

     spanning-tree

vlan 2 name world by port

     untagged ethe 0/1/37 to 0/1/48

vlan 3 name Office by port

     untagged ethe 0/1/1 to 0/1/6

     router-interface ve 3

     spanning-tree

vlan 4 name Rack2 by port

     untagged ethe 0/1/31 to 0/1/36

     router-interface ve 4

     spanning-tree

vlan 100 name class by port

     untagged ethe 0/1/13 to 0/1/24

     router-interface ve 100

     spanning-tree

    interface ve 3

     ip address 192.168.0.2 255.255.255.0

    interface ve 4

     ip address 192.168.104.12 255.255.255.0

    interface ve 100

     ip address 192.168.100.12 255.255.255.0

  • Both Ve's show up in the routing table as created by the firmware.

Thanks to the blogger at this site for directing me to a solution:

  1. Pick an unused port. I used a port in my default vlan
  2. tag that port to each vlan that will have a virtual interface that you want to communicate via the Brocade router's interVLAN ability
  3. create the virtual interfaces (VEs) and assign their IP addresses
  4. connect your devices to the untagged ports in your vlans
  5. create ACLs if needed
