Re: Can't upgrade firmware (2.1.0 to 3.0.x)

You need to copy the unzipped folder under the firmware folder of the brocade usb stick.

Done this many times without problems

Re: Can't upgrade firmware (2.1.0 to 3.0.x)

Hello Chanon,

First, you need to activate access to the USB stick on the VDX.

Then, you need to be careful to which folder you copy your OS onto the stick. If I recall correctly, your unzipped folder should be copied under the firmware folder.

Done this many times, works like a charm.

I have also done this just recently via USB (from 2.1 -> 3.0.1). You need to activate the USB. Follow the step-by-step guide provided in the release notes of the upgrade firmware you downloaded.

I'm having the same problem.  Updating firmware via scp works fine.  I can't get it to work via USB.  I have put the folder under brocade\firmware\nos3.0.1 and also as brocade\nos3.0.1.  See below:

I know I'm not making a typo on the dir name.  I have tried both with and without the trailing slashes.

Re: Can't upgrade firmware (2.1.0 to 3.0.x)

Hello,

skip the 'firmware' part and type in this :

firmware download usb directory nos3.0.1

Re: Can't upgrade firmware (2.1.0 to 3.0.x)

Y, isn't that what "firmware download usb d nos3.0.1" does from my first example?

I wonder if the USB drive needs to have the __macosx folders, too.  Originally, I just unzipped the "nos3.0.1" directory.  This time I unzipped both "nos3.0.1" and "__macosx", too.  It worked when both folders were on the USB.

Can anyone confirm this?

Re: Can't upgrade firmware (2.1.0 to 3.0.x)

Hello,

I use the brocade USB sticks on my mac, I have used this procedure multiple times successfully.

If I look at your first capture, it seems that the unzipped OS folder wasn't under the 'firmware' directory.

Re: Can't upgrade firmware (2.1.0 to 3.0.x)

Hi,

got the same error. The problem is that the upgrade command looks in the firmware folder of the stick and only need the subdir string with no slash or backslash. And 2.1.1. has a small "bug" if the dir is given with a slash it tells you that it is no error but the upgrade didn't start.

VDX6730# firmware download usb directory firmware\

Do you want to continue? :y

VDX6730#  -> No error - just no start ... also commit won't help

so finally

VDX6730# firmware download usb directory nos3.0.1aa

works for me if the stick has that nos subdir in the \firmware\

Regards Dennis
