Last week, the EIC held the first EMEA Technical Summit and boy was it a busy one!
When I say busy, I mean busy …it included a variety of presentations, horse racing and invigilators - confused?
On Monday morning our visitors arrived and were warmly welcomed by Marcus Jewell our VP Sales - EMEA. After a day of presentations and an appetising lunch, our guests headed to their hotel ready for the wonders of the evening entertainment awaiting them.
And yes, wow what a competitive night we had. Dividing everyone into teams of 6, the games began. Some teams were successful to the end as they hedged their bets and others fell at the first hurdle, as they played all or nothing. A lot of fun was had by all!
No rest for the wicked, the next day our guests were in at the crack of dawn where more fruitful presentations such as Service Provider DC Evolution, HyperEdge Campus Architecture and Wireless LAN were delivered. The evening drew to a relaxing close, with a traditional pub dinner in the lovely town of Wokingham.
So as you can imagine, after a busy two days our guests were tired but for some, it wasn't over yet as they prepared to take their BCEFP exam in the EIC. They spent four hours training with Jason Broadbent and Colin Swift our SE's that morning with a nutshell course.
The exam took place later that afternoon under strict invigilation guidelines. It felt like watching secondary school kids walking into the headmaster’s office after their fifth detention in a row. However on this occasion there were lots of happy faces leaving the exam room as they passed with high marks.
Most importantly, they left the EIC that day feeling more knowledgeable and happy which is what we strive to achieve.

This was how one attendee 'Dawn Hains of Azlan' described Brian Hunt, Brocade Capital Solutions Manager after his presentation at the 'New Partner Academy' last week.
It was a very interactive day and provided the new partners with an opportunity to meet the Brocade team and distributors, gaining a greater understanding of the Brocade products and solutions. Hot topics such as Ethernet Fabrics, Campus Lan and BNS were covered, equipping them with plenty of knowledge to pass on to their customers enabling them to make the right choices for their business. A great day was had by all!

Hitachi Data Systems RCIS visited the facility once again last week, this time bringing some customers from Russia’s biggest banks.
10 people from four different banks and one partner flew into the UK, to get an insight into the latest Brocade technologies and solutions.
We welcomed them by playing Russian music in the Café Lounge, where they had lunch. This was met with some warm smiles and great comments.
Then it was down to business, with a look at Brocade’s SAN roadmap, an overview of VCS Ethernet fabrics and a demo of VDX technology.
“For me, it was a great opportunity to familiarise myself with new product lines and Brocade”, said Roman Kobzev from HDS.
Svetlana Samovicheva also commented, “It was very interesting to see plans for the development of Brocade products, it was also interesting to see demonstrations of functionality.”
Of course, no visit from overseas would be complete without a few excursions. Our visitors went on to take a small tour of London, including a visit to the London Eye and a boat trip down the Thames.
Galina Elkina from HDS advised she was so impressed with the EIC visit that she will be bringing more customers in the next 6 months.
If you’re a Brocade partner, don’t miss out on the value the EIC can bring. Contact me to discuss how we can organise a visit for you and your customers.
It’s a bold claim, but one I can confidently back up with glowing feedback from our Polish customers following their recent visit to Bracknell.
Brocade partner Advatech brought six customers from three companies to the facility on June 25th & 26th, where they were treated to presentations and demonstrations by Brocade experts.Read more...
I’ve blogged before about the power of innovation to drive business transformation, and on Thursday June 13th, I had the opportunity to test that claim at the ‘Effortless Network Workshop’
The way we interact with information and applications has changed exponentially in the last 20 years. Think back to the early 1990s, when SMS messaging was the pinnacle of communications innovation. We used desktop PCs and the data centres we relied on had to manage a fraction of the data and applications we take for granted today. In 2013, the business environment has evolved radically; remote working, ubiquitous access to information and applications, cloud-based services and bandwidth-rich content such as video is placing an unprecedented burden on data centre networks. However, these networks are not designed to cope with the demand… many are throw-backs from the 1990s so are on the verge of breaking under the pressure.Read more...
