There is a constant theme in Data Center design discussions today. The question of whether or not there needs to be an independent storage network or fabric as opposed to a shared environment. Unfortunately for the average consumer in IT infrastructure the answer is it depends; but generally yes. People need to be careful about making absolute statements concerning infrastructure architectures. One should never treat technology as religion. Technology occasionally makes for useful tools, but it never makes for good religion. And in this case the major challenge is it's not the Network infrastructure it's the Networks infrastructure.
