Moving towards cloud-based systems and networks: two halves of the same problem | #AskAlan

#AskAlan, my new video series, takes a look into some of the major issues that IT departments are facing as they deal with the explosion in user demands and the move to cloud-based network and storage environments.

In this video, I discuss the problems that are arising as organisations migrate their network and storage solutions to cloud-based systems. What’s changing in these environments as they become cloud-based? What are the new challenges? How have priorities changed for CIOs and data centre managers?

Watch the first #AskAlan video to find out.

Alan,

A nice summary of how IT archtiecture responds to changes in application design (Web 2.0), networking (mobile access via wireless) and computing (server virtualization).  These change a lot of assumptions and constraints that define IT architecture from the days of client/server computing, monolithic storage and SMP computing.

That said, the goals are still the same: connect people with the information they need to drive growth at a profit.
