“As the intelligent economy continues to transform the business landscape, enterprise networks must be ready for a new set of demands”, says IDC. Or to put in another way; we need intelligent networks to support that intelligent economy opportunity. Legacy networks with low-scale, high-latency, complex architectures that are difficult to manage, don’t match up to requirement.
IDC believes cloud investment will continue to soar, and our own research shows hybrid cloud environments becoming the norm well within the next decade. Use of rich media such as audio and video is increasing, placing additional stress on the network. IDC says that 38 percent of enterprises’ already use video and 32 percent plan to use it within the next 12 – 24 months. And additional WiFi networks to support all those mobile devices we rely on are increasingly the pressure and can even overload legacy wired networks.
Which all begs the question; what use is IT investment, if you can’t use the solutions you have invested in because you have smart systems and a dumb network?
