Is it possible to increase the flash memory of a ServerIron?

I wonder if it is possible to put some more memory into one of my customer ServerIron 450. There are approaching the maximum config size and I would like get some more room to grow. Any way to do this?

Thx...

Re: Is it possible to increase the flash memory of a ServerIron?

There is no way to increase the flash memory of a ServerIron 450 - there is as well no way to increase it at any other ServerIron product. The flash is big enough to store two software images and the boot code together with the configuration of around 300 and something kilobyte. You can not add any flash memory. I would suggest to look at the configuration to see if there is anything in there which is doable in a shorter way. Have a close look at the health checks and things like real server names and virtual server names.

BTW the new ADX series is having a bigger configuration area. It is somewhere around 1M instead of 300K.

How do I shorten the configuration? What are the things which are normally longer than necessary?

Re: Is it possible to increase the flash memory of a ServerIron?

Have a look at the health check configuration. I have seen things like:

healthck blabla tcp

  dest-ip 1.2.3.4

  port http

  protocol http

  protocol http url "GET /whatever.html"

  l7-check

server real blabla 1.2.3.4

  port http

  port http healthck blabla

  port http url "HEAD /"

very often but it is increasing the config size a lot. The stuff above is the same as:

server real blabla 1.2.3.4

  port http

  port http url "GET /whatever.html"

Reduce all real server name and all virtual server names to a minimum - you are not going to save 50K with it but every single Kilobyte is a good one in case you are close to the limits of the config size.
