What is the main driver?
The explosion of mobile devices, the exponential increase of nontraditional devices on the network (video surveillance, sensors, etc.), and the rise of ubiquitous data have changed the way we look at traditional Internet technology. All these factors are creating challenges to the scale, performance, and operation of the traditional IPv4-based Internet.
Why is this important (to you)?
The number of address spaces used by the current version of the Internet protocol, IPv4, has been dramatically depleted. Without action, we risk increased costs and limited functionality online for Internet users everywhere. IPv6 is the new fabric of the Internet and will bring new business opportunities and business models, with over 4 billion times more space and more advanced protocol support.
What is the next step?
While we all agree about IPv4 depletion, there are often different opinions of when and how to transition to IPv6. This creates a need for a more intelligent solution that can provide an efficient, pragmatic transition strategy to IPv6. While organizations prepare to implement IPv6 in a timeframe that best fits their unique business requirements, or government mandates, they should begin planning for a sensible and cost-effective IPv6 solution today.
We will be joined by our distinguished speakers.
Vice President, Enterprise Communications Infrastructure and Datacenter Networks
IDC (International Data Corporation)
Director of Application Delivery Product Management
