FOS Interoperability

Hi,

I have several servers connected to 4100 and 4900 switches that run on different speeds which is 1GB, 2GB and 4Gb. These switches currently run on firmware v5.1.0a.

I am planning to upgrade these switches to latest v6.3.1a firmware. After the upgrade would it continue to support these servers that are running on 1GB, 2GB and 4Gb speed or do I need to upgrade the server HBA speed before the firmware upgrade.

Regards,

ponnappa

Re: FOS Interoperability

It should work fine if the drivers are still compatible with the new FOS. Its not just the speed remember.

I checked the release notes and the cli guide and 1 Gbps is possible. portcfgspeed for 6.3.1 shows the 1 gbps option, thats my basis for the answer.
